Experience

Informational / "plain English" summary: I specialize in two groups of people: (1) helping students who "hate math" by making math make sense and (2) challenging students who want to "get more" out of their math class. I've been teaching mathematics for years and my students say I have the gift to explain things so they "get it". Professional Summary: Dr. Perdue designs, develops, and implements engaging and effective learning and development solutions across all formats ranging from instructor led to blended and fully online experiences in both synchronous and asynchronous delivery. Her professional experience includes K12, college, university, business, corporate, and government agencies in the United States, Canada, South America, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean. She implements effective teaching practices through adroit incorporation of technology, inquiry-based pedagogy, project-based educational activities, student-centered curriculum, and Maker elements. Dr. Perdue is a published author, an accomplished presenter, and has been recognized internationally for her significant contributions to education. Her expertise in STEM is widely documented and highly sought after as a project consultant. Dr. Perdue holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics Education as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics along with various certifications including online instruction, teaching 9-12 mathematics, and teaching English as a second language.

Short version: I love to read, watch TV, play with my dog, and travel. I'm totally a technology geek and really love the outdoors -- especially whitewater kayaking! Longer Personal Summary: Personal Summary: I'm a young mathematics educator with interests in teaching, especially teaching math to people who say, "I've always hated math!", kayaking (mostly whitewater, but no class V's for me yet, I don't like tipping over my Diet Coke!), T.V. (Hell's Kitchen, Survivor, The Amazing Race, This is Us, Bob Hearts Aboshola, the Unicorn, A Million Little Things, and Council of Dads are among my current fav's), adventure recreation stuff (I'm one of those people who LOVES ropes courses & ziplines *smile*), and music (unfortunately, the only thing I can play is the CD player but... I love listening to all types of music [except twangy country & blue grass] -- fav artists include Terri Allard, Dr. Hook, Usher, Etta James, Vonda Shepard, Prince, Kathy Mattea, Amy Grant, Aretha Franklin, and Fantasia (oh yeah, I like American Idol too!), to name but a few. I love lions, partly because I'm a Leo but mostly because I think they're cool. Coffee, chocolate, Diet Coke, and Japanese food (teppan yaki) are my favorites. I love to read, be outdoors (camping, hiking, kayaking, doing ropes courses, whatever), and play with my dog, a.k.a. "son",(totally spoiled-rotten, black miniature schnauzer named Escher Steele (but we call him "Steeler" oh, yeah, and I'm a HUGE Steeler's fan!! go Big Ben!! woo hoo!!).
